How it works

Buying your name as a .com takes a few minutes. Moving it to your own registrar takes a few days. Here’s every step.

1. Find your name

Search on the home page or open any name’s own address, like janesmith.com. Each listed name is a registered .com with one fixed price.

2. Pay on a secure checkout

Press Buy now and pay by card on our payment processor’s secure page. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in its app. You’ll get a receipt by email straight away, and the charge appears on your statement as FIRSTLAST* followed by the name.

3. Confirm your email

We email you a link to confirm the address you paid with. The transfer code goes only to a confirmed address.

4. Receive your transfer code

Within three business days of payment we send the domain’s transfer code (sometimes called an EPP or authorization code).

5. Move it to your registrar

At the registrar you want to use, choose “transfer a domain”, enter the name and the code, and follow their steps. Most registrars include a year of renewal with the transfer. Transfers usually finish within five to seven days.
